In the year of 1792, the United States Mint was established. A computer code marked by numeric sequence allowed all products to be cataloged for a financial transaction. Many computers as the one in Belgium computed the bar code for economic commerce. The year of 2007 brought new innovations like the Verichip of the Digital Angel Corporation. A computer microchip that can be implanted beneath the epidermis of a human hand or body. A new wave for digital commerce or was it? The 1950's brought the first invention of digital commerce by way of the Diners' Club Inc credit card; however, 8 years later the American Express Company developed a credit card for travel, and entertainment. In the recent credit card boom, 1.06 billion credit cards are being used in the the United States alone; furthermore, 2.8 billion are used world wide. These statistics uncovered that at least 70% of the population have at least one credit card in use for financial commerce. These findings were reported by the Shift Corporation. An Ontologist named Douglas Jackson partnered with a prominent attorney, and developed the first digital currency called e-gold. Digital currency is the future of money, and the end of cash is coming say's economists. A Nobel Prize winner named Milton Friedman spoke on his outlook for financial currency, "I think the internet is going to be one of the major forces for reducing the role of government. The one thing that's missing but that will soon be developed, is a reliable e-cash." Lael Brainard a former Federal Reserve Board Governor stated as an economist that the United States urgently needs a central bank digital currency.
