Party Wear Ideas to Look Great This Festive Season

We spoke to Savile Row trained tailor and menswear designer, Oscar Udeshi, to find out what he thinks men could wear to Christmas and New Year parties this year to look sharp, turn heads and be comfortable enough for a little dancefloor boogie too.

"Firstly, black is back at this time of year and there are some gorgeous texture options depending on what kind of look you're going for. For example, black velvet jackets really light up an outfit and work well with smart trousers or casual jeans.

But it's not just black that's in for this year's party season. For a more formal occasion he recommends trying something that will really impress like a coloured velvet jacket.

"Absolutely no colour is off limits, especially after we saw how striking Daniel Craig looked in a hot pink velvet jacket at the Bond movie premiere."

So when it comes to party jackets, the sky's the limit and brighter can even be better!

What about trousers? Udeshi recommends black trousers with a special weave or design to add more of an interesting element to your look.

"This party season, more than ever before, mixing and matching pieces is the key to looking your best. It's all about combining beautiful items of different fabrics, colours or patterns to add layer and texture to your outfit. For example, a velvet jacket with a black turtleneck can be a simple yet ultra-stylish look that works for practically any social affair. And it's comfortable enough to allow you to move around and have a little dance too!"

And for the more formal, glamourous style-events? "Of course, you can't go wrong with a tailored formal dinner suit when you really want to make an impression!"
