With The Great Resignation, Career Sage Dr. Gary Goodman Is Having His Moment

Flummoxed Employers Are Losing Workers In Droves and This Career Guru Knows Why

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Feb. 2, 2022 - PRLog -- Dr. Gary S. Goodman, best-selling author of some of the most innovative career-building titles of the last few years, can explain the huge outflow of personnel.

As he points out in his book and audio program, 77 Best Practices In Negotiation, workers simply don't negotiate.

This failure to ask for more starts in the interview process and it ends, badly, when they quit.

"They're leaving without remaking their deals, because they feel incapable of improving their circumstances. The only power they feel they have is to quit."

He says, "The greatest failure in negotiating is the failure to negotiate." One of his 77 best practices is super-simple: "Ask for more and you'll get more."

But people don't ask, and research says women ask even less often than men, exacerbating the gender wage gap.

Goodman is also the author of How to Get Paid Far More Than You're Worth and How to Create Your Own High-Paying Job, both titles appearing in book and audio formats.

These titles get into the nuts and bolts of remaking one's career to optimize income and job satisfaction.

Goodman points to his own experience in raising his income by over 1,000 percent over an eighteen-month period. Transitioning from being an underpaid tenure-track college professor at a leafy university, he decided to take his lectures and repurpose them for adult audiences.

"I rebranded myself, earning the right to earn vastly more than I was being paid."

Goodman says employees should relabel themselves, as well.

"Want to be underpaid? Call yourself a trainer or a supervisor or one of the many designations companies already have."

And what if you're simply tired of working for other people? Goodman is also the author of The Forty-Plus Entrepreneur. He points out how most of today's entrepreneurs are folks advanced in age but prevented from advancing in their current careers.

He shows how to assess your strengths and weaknesses as well as judge the value of using "creative imitation," for example, buying a franchise, or innovating by pioneering a new product or service.

Even more than a great resignation, Goodman says everyone should seize this moment as The Great Reset.

"Renegotiate your existing job, bargain for a better one, or reinvent your career, entirely," he urges.

Many of Goodman's 26 titles are published by Nightingale-Conant and by G & D Media, and they can be purchased online at Audible, Amazon, and directly through the publishers.
