They have a solid waste dumping site in Okhla that has been in operation since 1996. Till date, around 55 lac MT of legacy garbage has been accumulated at this dumpsite. SDMC began bio-mining of legacy garbage at Okhla landfill, in accordance with the Hon'ble NGT's orders in OA Nos. 519/2019 and 386/2019. This was done by installing a trommel machine in October of 2019. Despite numerous limitations and lockdowns, bio-mining operations continue with 24 separating trommels in operation at the facility. About 10.50 lac MT of legacy garbage have already been bio-mined, and the landfill has been cleaned by about 80,000 square meters. Bio-mining is responsible for generating segregated fractions. The RDF fraction is disposed of at the WtE plant in Okhla, while the inert/soil is disposed of in the low-lying areas of Tajpur and NHAI highway construction sites. SDMC has signed an agreement with NHAI for the disposal of 3 lac MT inert in their upcoming UER-II (Urban Extension Road) project. More options for disposal/transportation of inert at other NHAI sites are currently under consideration. Visit here: https://mcdonline.nic.in/ End
