Author Harvey Goodman's Screenplay 'Brave Rider' Optioned by FR ProductionsWESTCLIFFE, Colo. - Feb. 20, 2022 - PRLog -- Oscar winning film producer, Fred Roos, of FR Productions, has optioned the screenplay, Brave Rider, written by Harvey Goodman and based upon his novel of the same name.
Mr. Goodman's story takes place in the Utah/Nevada Territories during 1860-61. It tells the tale of a Pony Express rider who falls in league with a Piaute Indian tribe after saving the Chief's daughter from a group of bandits. Anything but a standard western, Brave Rider rings epic because it is wrapped in the great American endeavor of the Pony Express, a feat symbolic of the expanding West and the 'can do' spirit that forged the definition of Americana. Yet, first and foremost, Brave Rider is a grand romance filled with action, adventure and suspense, all teaming with realism because of its basis in factual history. Harvey Goodman is a former Colorado Buffalo and Denver Bronco who took up writing after a career in public education as a history teacher, principal, and schools superintendent. To date, he has written five novels, a memoir, and several screenplays and teleplays. Fred Roos won a Best Picture Oscar in 1975 for co-producing The Godfather: Part II, along with Francis Ford Coppola. Mr. Roos has produced over 60 films, including The Cotton Club, Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, The Outsiders, St. Vincent, Lost in Translation, and The Black Stallion. He also cast such classics as Five Easy Pieces, and American Graffiti, and is generally recognized as having discovered Harrison Ford. Mr. Roos will now endeavor to bring Brave Rider to the screen.
