Erick Rush Turns His Story of Immigration Into Music

Erick Rush was born in Dar es Salaam in 1990 and immediately began a life of travelling. First within Tanzania and later immigrating to The United States and eventually settling in Edmonton Alberta Canada. The one thing that was always consistent in his life was his love for Hip-Hop. Gathering inspiration from the likes of Tupac, Nas, Rap-A-Lot & Cash Money Records, he eventually found his sound and decided to take music seriously. His first big break came when he became a top 5 finalist on the first season of VUZU AMP's "The Hustle", making a huge impression on African hip-hop fans. In January 2017, while still in South Africa, he dropped his fourth solo mixtape 'New Age Voyage' to positive reviews. Through it all, Erick Rush continued to evolve his brand globally all the while impelling his own artistic limits.

Rush defines his main genre as hip-hop, but he also states that as an artist you learn to stretch your voice to see what styles you can infiltrate. He likes to compare it to Jimmy Hendrix with his guitar.  The distortion he was doing was unheard of but eventually became legendary.

Now, Erick has launched his greatest piece to date; 'Culture Shock: An Immigration Story'. Erick's instincts tell him his music has done what he wants it to do. He moved around a lot, growing up. Some would see it as a disadvantage, but not Erick Rush. It gave him the opportunity to share his story through his music, and most importantly, because of his creative writing ability, Rush was able to reach genres outside of his own. With street credibility and its memorable hooks, "Culture Shock" anchors Erick Rush in the hip-hop world positioning him to join the ranks of music's greatest hip-hop artists. His goal of producing songs that speak to eardrums while revealing his relentless determination signifies that he will never settle for anything other than greatness in his music career.
