It is being distributed to families and youth-supporting programs across the country. Philanthropy partners who are contributing to the distribution efforts include Stuart Foundation, Greater Texas Foundation, ECMC Foundation and Rose Hills Foundation. The guide's content was curated by the editorial team behind Fostering Families Today magazine with assistance from experts with lived experience in the foster care system. It includes a national database, sortable by state, of resources and programs available to help youth find mentors, internships and financial assistance to help pay for their college education. "All foster kids need to be exposed to this guide. Anyone involved in or invested in their care, and who wants them to succeed in life – this is also for them. We need to start that narrative as young as possible," said Ivory Bennett, project manager for Career Ready, College Prepared.
