Independent Living Program for Foster Youth, Child Crisis Arizona

WHAT: Special guests will be invited to celebrate the newly enhanced gathering spaces for Child Crisis Arizona's Independent Living Program serving foster youth in Phoenix hosted by the Scottsdale Leadership Class 36 Project Lead it Forward "Creating Community Team".

Scottsdale Leadership's Project Lead it Forward program provides an opportunity to demonstrate community stewardship while honing leadership skills by completing a project that generates meaningful and sustainable impact.  The Class 36 "Creating Community" Team members were tasked with raising funds, surveying the clients & staff, and building a plan within a four month window to enhance the main gathering spaces for foster youth 16 – 21 years old and their small children who reside in the Earll St. Shelter of Child Crisis Arizona's Independent Youth Program.

Child Crisis Arizona's mission is to provide children and youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect by creating strong and successful families. "This project will ensure that our foster youth will have inviting home-like spaces that draw them out of their apartments, encourage interaction, and build community. Once acquiring this program in mid -2021, campus beautification projects became a priority especially in outdoor gathering areas.  We want  to inspire teens to move toward independence, learning life skills, and gaining confidence as they prepare for self-sufficiency.  This project will enhance the healing journey while at Child Crisis Arizona. We are grateful to Scottsdale Leadership's "Creating Community" Team for raising $25,000 and their heartfelt efforts to create several beautiful gathering areas. The impact made on the grounds will be a life-long memory in the hearts of the youth who witnessed such kind generosity." said Torrie Taj, CEO of Child Crisis Arizona.
