WHAT: Congressman Davis and James Smith of Sow Community Development Corporation will discuss how its programs have addressed an issue important to the residents of the 7th Congressional District and across the country - affordable housing. The press conference will showcase successful solutions to the shortage of affordable housing and building generational wealth.

Background: Sow Community Development Corporation (Sow CDC) is a minority organized and operated 501(c)3 located on Chicago's Westside. In the greater Chicago area, Sow CDC is working to implement a targeted approach to rebuilding the Black community one block at a time. Through our Block-by-Block Revitalization Initiative we will be able to strengthen communities by abating the housing issues of slum and blight created by vacant lots and abandoned properties.

Sow's vision was born out of a desire to see the communities ravaged by the riots of 1968. Their mission is to heal existing neighborhoods transforming them into thriving Communities.
