IMUA Honors Six At 91st Annual Meeting

NEW YORK - May 19, 2022 - PRLog -- Jean Gardner, former President/CEO at Central Analysis Bureau and former partner at Hill Rivkins, LLP was presented with the IMUA's 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Association's 91^st Annual Meeting in Savannah, GA. Jean was one of three individuals recognized for their contributions to the IMUA for 2021 at this year's April 24-27 Annual Meeting.  The others included Ron Castellanos, Inland Marine Segment Manager, Selective Insurance -- Excellence in Education; and Mirna-Calderon-Hansen, Regional Underwriting Executive, Berkley Fire & Marine – Outstanding Committee Person.

Also recognized were the 2020 Awards recipients who were named at the IMUA 90^th Virtual Annual Meeting but received their awards at this year's meeting. They were Sharon Primerano, AIG's Inland Marine Construction & Equipment Product Lead North America Marine – Lifetime Achievement; David Lee, Retired Director, Inland Marine at Tokio Marine North America, Inc. – Excellence in Education; and Sam Slade, FCIP, CRM, Vice President, Gen Re I Toronto Branch – Outstanding Committee Person.

Commenting on Jean Gardner's award, IMUA President & CEO Kevin O'Brien said, "Jean has been actively involved in supporting IMUA for decades.  She has served on the IMUA Transportation Committee and was a driving force in many of the committee's accomplishments over the years.  Her unique background as an attorney and leader of CAB, an industry-leading provider for in-depth motor carrier analysis, has made Jean a renowned expert.    The IMUA has had the privilege of being able to call on Jean with transportation industry-related questions at a moment's notice.

"She has also been instrumental in enhancing IMUA's education platform.  An excellent, dynamic and highly knowledgeable presenter/instructor, Jean has conducted numerous webinars, classes and seminars for IMUA as well as presented at several Annual Meetings.  One of her greatest contributions to IMUA has been her commitment to introducing new educational resources to the association.  She has mentored and recruited many committee volunteers and outstanding instructors to IMUA.  Jean has made IMUA a better organization."

As the winner of the Excellence in Education Award, Ron Castellanos is a tremendous asset to IMUA's education curriculum.  He has been a leading member of the Annual Meeting Education Committee for several years producing the highly regarded 'Lessons from Losses,' working with the young professionals on presentation content and delivery.  He has also been instrumental in the development of IMUA's e-learning series, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for the contractors equipment course and personally recruiting SMEs for other courses.  He is an outstanding educator and always makes himself available as a resource to IMUA's staff," notes O'Brien.

"Mirna-Calderon-Hansen is a longtime committee person, and presently the chair of the San Francisco chapter of IMUA's Pacific Coast Advisory Committee.  She has effortlessly led the revival of the group in northern California.  Through Mirna's dedicated efforts, the committee has remained active and even thrived throughout the pandemic.  The regional committee has identified speakers and presented virtual programs that have expanded the reach of the committee to a national level.  Mirna has recruited new committee members and injected the group with energy and enthusiasm.  IMUA's regional presence has been enhanced through Mirna's efforts," said O'Brien.

IMUA also recognized the contributions of AAIS' Robert Guevara, upon his retirement, for the outstanding contributions he has made to the inland marine insurance industry.

IMUA is the national association for the commercial inland marine insurance industry.  IMUA serves as the voice of its member companies representing over 90 percent of all commercial inland marine insurers.
