TAOS, N.M. - May 13, 2022 - PRLog -- Created in memory of VFF founder Fernando Vigil's grandmother, the Fabiola M. Vigil Scholarship honors her passion for continuing education and provides support for Northern New Mexico students to reflect on climate change and pursue a field in the sciences or renewable energy.
  • Three scholarships are available for $6,000, $4,000 and $2,000
  • Scholarships are available to Española, Pojoaque, McCurdy, and Peñasco (NM) seniors
  • Application deadline extended to May 31, 2022
In an effort to make a real impact on the shift to clean energy and support a family legacy of education, the Vigil Family Foundation has established the Fabiola M. Vigil Memorial Scholarship for students in the Española Valley. Fabiola was a devoted educator within the Española Public School district for many years and grandmother to VFF founders Fernando Vigil and Marco Vigil. Her passion and devotion for furthering education was instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as she has raised Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Educators, Accountants, and Technicians, all who are graduates from the Española Valley.

This fund has been established to provide scholarships to deserving young men and women who intend to enter a higher education field pertaining or specific to sustainability, renewable energy, engineering, or math & sciences.

"Our objective is to provide opportunities to the community we came from. We want to see these younger generations continue to succeed and acknowledge their hard work. Hopefully, these scholarships will inspire them to find solutions that can impact the environment and their local community. This scholarship could give a student that extra push or boost in confidence to pursue higher education, hopefully in a renewable path."
-- Marco Vigil, Vigil Family Foundation Secretary and Española High School graduate

A total of three scholarships are available to seniors from Española, Pojoaque, McCurdy, and Peñasco High Schools (NM) entering higher education. The application deadline is May 31, 2022, and requires two essay questions of at least 500 words that address the student's thoughts on the impact of global warming on their own community.
