Set in an upscale home in a small Georgia town during the early 2000's, "Cuz" is the story of two young African American first cousins bickering over the rights to land left them to share when their 100-year-old grandfather passes. Reading the off screen narration is NFT Advanced Playwriting student Belinda Walker. She is an actor and writer who has also studied at the New Short Play Festival. Belinda says, "thanks to my fabulous cast and director". This talented performer was last seen on stage at New Perspectives Theater in Zakeia Cross' "Running Out of Time". Currently a New Federal Theatre Acting student under Petronia Paley, his other stage credits include: "Was it Me", "Their Eyes Were Watching God", "This Book Ain't Been Written", "Lulu Dance", etc. Mark Winn plays the ex-con cousin Omar. Mr. Winn is a star of stage, screen, film, TV, and commercial print ads who is more than happy to be a part of the New Federal Theatre's production of "Cuz". Understudy Lonnie Ford is a renowned San Francisco stage & film actor. He is touring Nationwide with his one-man-show "Chaza ~ techniques used to deal with oppression" - a play about youth options. With Kermit Frazier, Cassandra Medley, and Richard Wesley having instructed the 2022 NFT Advance Playwrights, Bronx playwright Ajene D. Washington is the historic Theatre's Training Program Coordinator. Elizabeth Van Dyke serves as NFT Producing Artistic Director supported by Company Manager Patricia White.
