Halfacre celebrates upcoming completion of Wimauma Elementary School projects with various events

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - May 31, 2022 - PRLog -- Halfacre Construction Company (https://www.halfacreconstruction.com/), a Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company, recently celebrated the upcoming completion of several Wimauma Elementary School (https://www.hillsboroughschools.org/wimauma) projects with various events on campus.

During the last two weeks of May, Halfacre Construction Company catered lunch for 80 teachers and staff, team members attended and funded food for the fifth-grade graduation banquet, and gifted t-shirts and $25 Walmart gift cards to the graduating students.

The Wimauma Elementary School project began in July 2020 and included a new 21,000-square-foot building to house classrooms and other educational spaces, added covered walkways to the new building, a new parent pick up and drop off loop, a new parking lot to serve the new building and an extension to the school's current cafeteria.

Extensive landscape and hardscape features were installed to enhance the front entry of the new building, along with accent bricks on the exterior walls to tie the addition into the design of the existing school. Fire alarms, intercoms and new security systems were also installed to adhere to Hillsborough County Public School standards.

Halfacre Construction Company acted as the construction manager for the project. The approximately $5 million project was phased to accommodate an active campus and provide the least disruption to the teaching and learning environment.

The remaining items for completion include a remodel of the existing cafeteria and kitchen with new equipment, and that is expected to be complete in July 2022, before students return.

Built in 1926, Wimauma Elementary School once served grades kindergarten through twelfth grade, but now houses grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Situated in the small, rural town of Wimauma, the neighborhood elementary school serves a diverse student body of close to 600 students.
