Providence College's former Women's Hockey coach, Bob Deraney, was interviewed by 2aDays', a website with ratings and tips fo student-athletes, team and answered questions about certain recruiting do's and don'ts.

For background, Deraney has been coaching college hockey for 20 years, and was named the Women's Hockey East Association Coach of the Year three times and had a stellar record. He led Providence to three Hockey East Tournament titles, one ECAC Tournament Championship, and one NCAA Tournament appearance, along with his experience coaching five Olympians.

Deraney touched on what he thought were the most important qualities as a recruit, the best ways to get in touch with him, and when the time is for an athlete to reach out to future college coaches.

As a student-athlete, certain things are expected of you, but one of the biggest for Coach Bob Deraney is to "Be proactive with the schools you are most interested in. Do not hope they come to you, you must engage them", among other qualities.
