Follow on Google News | Taconic Health Care assumes control of three New York State skilled nursing facilitiesMichael Farbenblum, Esq. and Stephen Eaton-Mercurio, RNMS, CAS, LNHA, are the principals of Taconic Health Care. Farbenblum is a graduate of Columbia Law School and currently serves as a health care consultant and attorney. Eaton-Mercurio has worked in the field of health care for more than 35 years, currently serving as president of some of the most highly-rated facilities in New York state including, Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, Brookhaven Health Care Facility in East Patchogue, Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville, Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda and Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca. The facilities are rated four and five stars by the federal government under its Medicare star rating system. Additionally, all of the facilities have ranked in the top quintile of New York state's Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) since its inception, putting them on a short list of facilities that have achieved this milestone for eight consecutive years. Currently, the federal government rates the newly-assumed facility in Highland as one-star and the facilities in Beacon and Fishkill as two-star. Farbenblum's and Eaton-Mercurio's combined clinical sophistication and business acumen define them as industry trend setters, establishing best practices and orchestrating operational restructurings that are influencing the dynamic of New York's health care system. Taconic's Regional Vice President Scott West will assist with the facility transition. He holds a master's degree in gerontological studies and is a licensed nursing home administrator with nearly 30 years of health care experience. He is the former president of the Vermont Health Care Association and a member of AHCA's first Future Leaders training.
