1893 Chicago's Columbian Exposition Documentary Film Premiere at Chicago Filmmakers Theater

CHICAGO - Aug. 28, 2022 - PRLog -- Chicago 1893 has teamed up with Chicago Filmmakers in coordination with the Design Museum of Chicago to premiere the documentary film "1893 Chicago's Columbian Exposition" on September 10th at 5pm.

"As we approach the 50th anniversary of Chicago Filmmakers, we are pleased to showcase this documentary film about a pivotal moment in Chicago's rich history. And we're especially excited about the augmented reality demo that will allow visitors to experience the distinct architecture and landscapes of the 1983 Columbian Exposition in a new and innovative way," remarked Chicago Filmmakers' Program Director, Jackie Robbins.

After the movie plays, attendees can get a look at the augmented reality work Chicago 1893 has been building to expand the project into modern media. The Administration Building is available for all to view on their personal devices.

"The Columbian Exposition brought Chicago to the world stage through a new sense of American industrial optimism and cutting-edge architecture. Augmented reality is the perfect way to experience this architecture and bring the Exposition to a new audience nearly 130 years later. The Design Museum is thrilled to co-sponsor the film screening and behind the scenes look at the AR experience." said Executive Director of Programming and Operations Kevin Reader of the Design Museum of Chicago.

About Chicago 1893

Over 125 years ago the Columbian Exposition was staged in Chicago on Lake Michigan's shoreline. Visitors from around the country and world were first introduced to many industrial technologies and commercial offerings that would shape 20th century culture. This project explores the event through historical documentation and juxtaposes it against living remnants in art and architecture around the city as a legacy to the 1893 World's Fair.
