New York City Council Member Marjorie Velázquez prioritized local partners, highlighting Ladder 89 for the high demand for updated equipment, specifically power generators, to continue to serve the community during emergencies. "Providing equitable resources such as a power generator is an important step, as our community continues to face short and long-term outages due to power outages," said Council Member Marjorie Velázquez. "Many residents in my district are elderly, have small children, or require special medical attention. As outages continue to be an issue, critical resources such as power generators will allow our emergency personnel to support the community in times of need. I am happy to have awarded Ladder 89 with a power generator, as they continue to care for the community."
