NAFI Hosts 50th Annual Homecoming Weekend

GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Aug. 23, 2022 - PRLog -- Norwayne Alumni and Friends, Inc., (NAFI), headquartered at 106 East Norwayne Alumni Way, Fremont, NC 27830, is gearing up for its fiftieth Annual Homecoming Weekend. Themed Celebrating 50 Years; Go Tell Somebody, Luke 8:39, Labor Day Homecoming Weekend, September 1-4, 2022.
On Thursday, September 1^st, 12:00 Noon, the weekend of festivities will begin with prayer at the NAFI headquarters in Fremont. The trash talking begins with card playing and bowling from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. On Friday, September 2, 2022, is a Meet and Greet Reception from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on the Maxwell Center Patio, 3114 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534. The cost is free for members and $20 non-members. The NAFI members only business meeting, 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Center Ballroom.
On Saturday, September 3^rd. the 5^th Annual 5K Walk/Run begins at 7 a.m. in Fremont on the Alumni Grounds. The annual NAFI parade begins at 10:00 a.m. corners of Balance and Vance Streets, Fremont, NC. The 50^th NAFI Annual Homecoming Banquet will be held at the Maxwell Center, 5:30 p.m. Latraviette Smith-Wilson is the banquet speaker.  Latraviette (Traci) D. Smith-Wilson is one of Corporate America's most sought-after executives.  She has almost 25 years of global experience helping some of the nation's most well-known businesses succeed — building brands and reputations rooted in purpose, social impact, and inclusion. Traci is currently Chief Marketing and Equity Officer for Horizon Media, the largest media agency in the U.S. and the world's largest independent. She is ,also, a 1994 graduate of Goldsboro High School, a NAFI 1994 scholarship recipient, Lifetime Member, and alumni supporter. Traci is the daughter of one of NAFI's foundation builders, Goldie Harris Smith.
Tickets are $30 for members; non-members $40. Following the banquet is the Alumni Dance. It will also be held in the banquet hall beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the dance only is $20.
Sunday, September 4^th will conclude this historic weekend of celebration with Sunday Worship Service held at St. James Church of Christ, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, NC 27830, 11:00 a.m. Close Out Praise Service is an Out-Door Concert at 100 South Goldsboro Street in Fremont.
The first NAFI book entitled The Norwayne Tales: Preserving a Heritage will also be unveiled at the dance and available for purchase. This book is a labor of love and support by NAFI alumni who are "telling their stories" of the impact Norwayne and Charles B Aycock have had on their individual lives.
