ATLANTA - Aug. 25, 2022 - PRLog -- Each year, The Atlanta Business Chronicle recognizes leaders who influence the business community and broader economy differently, identifying them as "power" players. This designation indicates these people invoke strength, leadership, and energy - qualities that have defined the men and women of Atlanta Business Chronicle's Power 100 (https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2022/06/25/atlanta-power-100-full-list.html) list for years.

This year, Atlanta REALTORS® Association President Karen Hatcher, CPM®, made the list described by the prestigious outlet as a "REALTOR® on the front lines of a dynamic housing market." Not only is Karen reigning during an unprecedented housing market, but her appointment is also exceptional because she's the organization's first Black woman president and Black-owned brokerage to hold the Office of President in 112 years.

The Power 100 features leaders who not only bring wealth and cachet to the city but whose voices challenge old ideas in pursuing social and economic progress. Within the first six months of Hatcher's presidency, ARA has begun to make historical strides toward its promise of inclusion.

The outlet says, "The 2022 list contains deal-makers behind the city's biggest projects, newcomers whose impact is just beginning, and legacy-makers whose work has forever changed Atlanta."

In 2021, Karen helped lead ARA to publish a public apology for past racial discrimination, internally and externally known as "redlining" - an illegal and discriminatory practice of denying services (typically financial) to black and brown residents of specific areas based on their race or ethnicity.

With her historical appointment in 2022 as the first Black woman President of ARA, Karen pledged to continue the 'dance' from diversity initiatives to making intentional inclusion part of the DNA of the association.

In Hatcher's inaugural "Let's Dance" speech, she pledged the association to be the voice and driving force of change to ensure all members feel welcomed, supported, heard, and valued. Karen and the ARA made historic progress in July of 2022 by adding local multicultural real estate representatives to the Board of Directors as voting members in response to improving DEI engagement and representation among its multicultural membership base.

Atlanta Business Chronicle defines Hatcher as part of the "Fresh Face" group. Though new in their roles or to the city, these individuals have made a difference for years. They help set the direction of companies, institutions, and organizations that propel Atlanta's growth.

The Atlanta REALTORS® Association and its members congratulate Karen Hatcher on receiving such honorable recognition.
