Award-winning writer launches Heart-Centered Living newsletter for the "practical mystic"

WASHINGTON - Oct. 3, 2022 - PRLog -- Maria de los Angeles, a D.C.-based, award-winning writer and independent journalist, launches a newsletter to share information with her audience and build community around spiritual, heart-centered topics.

During the early aughts, while she still lived in her former hometown of Miami, Maria de los Angeles endured a series of health challenges that inspired a heart-centered line of inquiry. In 2012, she produced the first of two successful, sold-out #heartcamp "unconferences" -- each a participatory day of talks and workshops focused on the physical, spiritual and creative dimensions of the heart.

After running a successful, award-winning blog and related social media for 12 years, Maria de los Angeles took time off from editorial and events to be a caregiver to her parents who succumbed to Alzheimer's. In 2017, after their passing, she left Florida for a new life focused on spirituality. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, she was developing a hyper-local outlet devoted to healing communities she discovered in the nation's capital. A post-pandemic turn to global online communities shifted and broadened her focus. As a former resident of Capitol Hill, she also directly witnessed the January 6 insurrection, an event that reinforced her practice of ethical media in an age of conspirituality.

"I blazed a trail for blogs in 2005 covering what was alive for me back then. But I've changed, and so has digital publishing for independent journalists. A newsletter seems like a natural progression to share my world with readers in a more intimate container" she says. "It's an editorial platform to connect some amazing dots and build community with D.C. currently as base."

Heart-Centered Living News features news, stories, art, poetry, resources, book reviews, a reader's corner and more -- an eclectic collection of topics that reflect the life of its publisher. "The 'practical mystic' is someone longing for 'grounded spirituality,'" she explains. "That means never bypassing hard realities while embracing a contemplative life."
