MIAMI - Sept. 20, 2022 - PRLog -- Professor Confronts Black Equality Issues in Timely Novel

When a university professor of African and African Diaspora studies asks his African-American students why they don't get along with the African students on campus, he's surprised by their answers.

"By the way they carry themselves and talk down on you sometimes," replied the student.

"How?" queried the professor further.

"Perhaps because their ancestors were not enslaved like ours were," replied the student.

"Who told you their ancestors were not enslaved?"

Professor Rufus Emekuku traces his students' negative attitudes back to the damage inflicted by the effects of slavery and colonialism throughout the centuries.

After listening to his students berate Africans and their seemingly stuck-up behavior, he replies:

"Your remarks today, in my humble opinion, my brothers and sisters," continued the professor, "are neither brotherly nor are they sisterly. The people you are talking about are your own brothers and sisters. Granted, despite all the odds against them, they always appear proud, happy, and elegant – and so should you, always, despite all the odds against you!"

The professor's remarks have strong consequences and end in a student's death. Rufus decides his destiny is to reunite Africans with Africans in the Diaspora.

Written by a university professor, We, the Enslaved offers remarkable insight on the feeling of disconnection by Africans in the Diaspora from Africans on the continent.
