Broadcastvision Releases New Product That Keeps AT&T Cable Boxes AwakeThe Stay Awake device from Broadcastvision will keep AT&T set-top boxes active.
Although the Stay Awake can be used in any application requiring keeping the set-top boxes active, it is primarily designed for commercial environments like fitness centers and sports bars. Fitness centers rely on TVs to entertain their members, and it's now commonly expected that each piece of cardio equipment has a built-in TV. Many gyms also install large-screen TVs to occupy their members and use a product like AudioFetch to send the audio to smartphones. "When a TV on a piece of cardio equipment is not working, a member generally assumes that the entire piece of equipment is faulty," says Mark Blake, COO of Broadcastvision Entertainment. "In addition to the member being inconvenienced, a staff person would then be required to use a battery-operated remote control to turn on the set-top box," says Blake. Sports bars use large screen TVs to entertain their customers and especially extensively on game days. The Stay Awake device would keep the set-top box active, so there is no risk of customers missing any action. The Stay Awake from Broadcastvision Entertainment includes an IR emitter, an IR shield, and two power options to power the unit. You can power through a USB port or by plugging it into a standard outlet. The IR emitter is easily installed on the front of the cable box over the IR eye.
