Camp Out for Fridge Art Fair's 9th Miami Edition November 29-December 3rd By: Fridge Art Fair The Fair will mainly occupy outdoor and semi-enclosed spaces, and what we really want to see proposals from exhibitors that will utilize tents (byo) or be set up for an outdoor Art Festival akin to New York's famous summer weekend event at Washington Square. All forms. How to submit? See fridgeartfair.com Artists, curators and dealers from students to seniors and anywhere in the world are invited to apply, pitch a tent and hang with us, reflecting Founding Director Eric Ginsburg's love of inclusivity, inventiveness and surprises. In the the words of Fridge's co-director and spiritual advisor Linda DiGusta, "Next time something somebody created inspires you, reflect upon all the lives you touch and how to foster them flowing brilliance, shining their light. This is what makes heaven on earth, this is evolution… Fridge's core is artists and curators working outside the mainstream business to maintain their independence and the authenticity of their voice. We think small in the wake of the big fairs because God is in the details." In honor of the district's name, which means alligator in the Seminole language, our canine mascot is here with Elvis the Alligator from Miami vice. As always dogs are welcome, but please note that all dogs and gators must be leashed! Expect campfire tales, s'mores, and memorable moments. Don't forget the insect repellent! Esquina de Abuela (EDA), is an urban community center in Allapattah. The eclectic space, founded by Fabian Martinez, is a neighborhood staple where local and international artists are housed free of charge so they can come together to create, perform, exhibit their work, and give back to the community. EDA is the physical legacy of Zoila Caridad Guerra, a revolutionary, turned contra-revolutionary, who fought to against Cuba's oppressive regimes. Zoila showed the same love and devotion to her home, that was then re-inspired by her grandson Fabian, in her honor. The power and resilience of her spirit remain an inspiration to all who visit.
