NCDS Medical Billing Backs H.R. 8800 Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022

This legislation constitutes a fundamental and positive change to the Physician Fee Schedule and healthcare providers at-large

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - Oct. 14, 2022 - PRLog -- Healthcare providers all over America prepare to see a 4.42% pay cut in January 2023 due to the looming updated 2023 Medicare physician fee schedule change.

To advocate for physicians and prevent these upcoming payment reductions, new legislation has been brought to the House of Congress. Representatives Larry Bucshon, M.D., R-Indiana, and Ami Bera, M.D., D-California have introduced a bill that intends to prevent the impending 2023 4.42% Medicare pay cut.

This bill - H.R. 8800, the Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022 - extends the 3% increase to the 2022 physician fee schedule conversion factor that Congress passed last year for 2023. It would also offset the proposed 1.42% reduction to the 2023 conversion factor in the 2023 physician fee schedule proposed rule.

Explaining why the Company endorses H.R. 8800, the Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022, President of NCDS Medical Billing Mick Polo explains, "This critical piece of legislation is a vital and necessary step in the right direction. Congress needs to act on it to prevent the proposed reductions to healthcare provider payments. NCDS Medical Billing is proud to back the bipartisan legislation put forward by Reps. Bera and Bucshon."

If H.R. 8800 fails, both healthcare providers and patients will be severely impacted. If the Bill does not pass, the negative outcomes might include:
  • Continued healthcare consolidation
  • Providers opting out of participating in the Medicare program, impacting the healthcare of seniors
  • Jeopardization of patient access to care
  • Lack of medical practice financial sustainability

NCDS Medical Billing endorses H.R. 8800, a fundamental and positive change for healthcare providers. The bill would help relieve the economic impact of COVID-19, staffing shortages, and inflationary pressures that every healthcare provider currently experiences.

The Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022 is a step towards putting the nation's healthcare system on sustainable financial ground.
