Klein ISD Trustee Position #6 Election - KISD #6

SPRING, Texas - Oct. 19, 2022 - PRLog -- The future of our public school districts and our children are on the line. The incumbent would have you believe Klein ISD is currently improving. Sadly, it is not. Our "award-winning" district with an "award-winning" superintendent allowed Klein to drop from an A to a B rated district. You know what I say? Keep your awards and show me results!  Klein is a district of 54,000 students of which 29,700 are functionally illiterate. 55 percent. Only 45 percent of students meet grade level markers in reading in Klein ISD. 55 percent of our students are functionally illiterate. And this has been going on way before any pandemic.

We need school boards, parents and teachers to stand united to make an impact in Klein and set an example for other districts. I am the only school board candidate that has announced plans to directly impact literacy in Klein. The role of school board members is to support funding to directly impact educational outcomes. Klein board members have been using just one yearly metric to monitor whether our children in the district are progressing. We know that losing one year of education has been devastating. As a member of the school board, trustees can request district data and reports. I will assure continual monitoring takes place throughout the year including: the effect of funding allocations to each school, the success and failure of programs funded, preparations to ensure that we never "lose" an entire year ever again.

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is a taxpayer-funded lobbyist group that is generally left-leaning. Historically, it has been the only organization to provide the required training for new board members. They train our board members to unanimously support anything the superintendent asks, hide any negative news from the public (including criminal activity), push for bonds and tell them they can't ask for data. This is why we see our school board members asleep at the wheel state-wide. They are told that they cannot implement the actions I am prepared to push forward. Kristin is a graduate of Liberty University School of Law. She relies on what the law says she can do, not a taxpayer-funded lobbyist group.

Investing in this campaign is investing in transparency, literacy and accountability. Klein needs a trustee that not only cares but finds real solutions for the district's very real problems. Kristin is ready to work hard for Klein ISD but she needs your help to cross the finish line.
