Follow on Google News | Shine Orthodontics Embodies A Spirit of Giving with Local and Global Community SupportBy: Shine Orthodontics Equipping Kenyan Schools with Libraries What is an education without access to books? Upon learning from Robert Mwangi — a patient's father — about a primary school in Kenya without its own library, Dr. Scheer was stirred to help. Kenya has always had a special place in his heart, after he served on a dental mission trip there 10 years ago. In August 2021, together with Mr. Mwangi, Dr. Scheer supplied the Ihwa Primary School in Nyeri, Kenya with much-needed access to books, educational materials, and programs for the school's children and the surrounding village. This project kickstarted an initiative to continue building more school libraries. Shine Orthodontics currently has an active GoFundMe for the next Kenyan school library project for those interested in making a difference with this community-minded Thornton, CO orthodontist. For those who want to start their own library legacy, Dr. Scheer has also started an "Adopt A Library" initiative: individuals, teams, and organizations can fund a Kenyan school library on their own. "Adopt A Library" donations will be used to: ● provide books and shelving to a school without a library ● fund a program that trains teachers in library management and how to inspire a positive reading culture — in school and in their community Interested parties are invited to contact Dr. Scheer to get connected with a school and get started. Participate in fostering increased literacy and the joy of reading for children and communities in Kenya. Braces Gifted Locally In Partnership with Stout Street Foundation Closer to home, Dr. Scheer recently used his orthodontic expertise to donate braces treatment to a Colorado resident through the Stout Street Foundation (https://www.stoutstreet.org/ About Shine Orthodontics Dr. Scheer (https://www.shineorthodonticsco.com/ End
