PRLog -- The Film Lab's longest running program, Unfinished Works, has assisted screenwriters for over 20 years as an avenue for filmmakers, screenwriters, and actors to share and workshop their screenplays for honest feedback. The feedback process includes a reading of the piece by professional Film Lab actors and is carefully structured to provide assistance with drafting, editing, outlining, and more. The general public is able to provide their feedback and ask the writer and actors questions, alongside industry guests, following the readings.
This year, the Film Lab launched its fall/winter program with
Makwa, a gritty science fiction piece by Johnny Cole (www.Johnny-
Cole.com) and
Witches are B*tches by Jazmine Cornielle.
Makwa tackled a host of serious issues ranging from LGBTQ rights to climate change, while drawing the listeners in with an intriguing and mystical murder mystery. Screenwriter Johnny Cole commented, "Getting my script into the hands of living, breathing actors and bringing it to its feet with a line reading really helped me to evolve the project in a significant way." Actors included John Wu, Jennifer Betit Yen, Soraya Butler, Mami Kimura, Jackson Mercado, Ro Malabanan, Kimberly David, Georges Bridges, and more. For the actor bios, please visit

The workshop portion of the event, moderated by Andy Lee, raised complex issues that will make attendees keen to attend the next screenplay workshop in the series, coming later this fall/winter. A recording of the readings and workshops will be available on Film lab's YouTube channel: YouTube.com/
