![]() Fans of Josephine Baker Launch A Petition Drive to Honor Her LegacyBy: La Maison Josephine Centers Project "I am pleased that the "Fans" of Ms. Josephine Baker are compelled to see her Legacy Honored in this way. Many have paved the way. Now is the time that we pay Homage to those who have inspired so many. Ms. Baker is a Global Icon who continues to touch lives in this present day," states Terra Renee, President of African American Women In Cinema, Leader of the "Fans" of Josephine Baker Recognition Petition. Josephine Baker was more than just an entertainer. She was a spy, humanitarian, mother, and a proponent of human rights and freedom of expression. Her humanitarian, music, and movie legacy is one that continues to impact the world. She still inspires today. The first black actress to play the lead role in a significant foreign film was Josephine Baker in 1934's "Zou Zou." Baker produced a total of four movies for international release. She devoted much of her very public life to promoting an integrated society in which everyone is respected, regardless of color, religion, or sexual orientation. Baker was a fantastic mother to a diverse group of children called the "Rainbow Tribe". The focus of this work is to bring about real, positive change for young creative artists. The goal is to open the first La Maison Joséphine Baker Republic of Creative Possibilities Center, for aspiring worldwide youth leaders, and creating new narratives. This petition drive is the kickoff event. Please sign and share this petition with everyone you know so that the voices of the Fans of Josephine Baker are heard, and this icon is properly honored during the 2024 Entertainment Industry Awards Cycle..
