Follow on Google News | ![]() Helping The Education Sector Obtain Better ValueBy: Tech Buyers Club The Independent Schools Association (ISA) is the registered charity that represents the Heads of 608 of the UK's best independent schools. Over 120 delegates, i.e., head teachers, deputy head teachers, bursurs and admin staff attended the conference, making it a great opportunity to make new contacts. It was great to have the opportunity to explain in person how we can identify hidden value in purchases of IT products by exposing and reducing high supplier margins. You could clearly see the realisation from the delegates of the impact our unique service could have. From the conversations we had it was clear that one of the major frustrations for the delegates was not knowing if their suppliers were providing good value and that advice and quotes would often change without any explanation. Everyone Loves A Quiz A little bit of bubbly was on offer if someone could complete our quiz. We had 3 items on display and showed how much they cost. Delegates then had to place them in order of supplier margin, from highest to lowest. The items were... A) Docking station for lap tops @ £130.00 B) Keyboard & mouse @ £25.00 C) Connection cable @ £4.50 Only four delegates provided the correct answer, which was the sequence of C, A and then B. The lowest value item had a supplier margin of 298% A Helping Hand A number of the people we spoke to had immediate plans for a major purchase, i.e. an upgrade of equipment for staff or a roll out of new student computers. They asked if we could help to understand if the offers they were receiving were good value. Of course, we said yes. So now, in addition to starting to review their day-to-day Tech purchases we are also going to make sure their new investment is going to give excellent value for money.
