Impact Safety offers confined space entry training to teach the characteristics of confined spaces

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dec. 1, 2022 - PRLog -- Every single year, employees are seriously injured or die as a result of working in confined spaces. It is estimated that 60% of these deaths occurred during confined space rescue. This is often the result of an improperly trained employee attempting to rescue the confined space entrant, and getting caught themselves. It is vital that employees who must enter confined spaces to work receive the proper training, preparation, and awareness of the hazards in order to keep them safe on the job.

Impact Safety, located in Augusta, Georgia, offers a full day training course that teaches students the characteristics of confined spaces and how to safely enter/exit a permit-required confined space. Attendees will learn how to prevent injury and death through understanding of OSHA's confined space requirements as well as ANSI and NFPA guidelines.

With this course students will learn what hazards may be encountered in confined spaces, which hazardous conditions could prevent entry, how to properly and safely respond to an emergency crisis, what personal protective equipment (PPE) may be needed, in depth training on how to recognize the symptoms of overexposure of air contaminants, and procedural requirements.

Students will also learn the requirements, responsibilities, and roles of the Supervisor, Entrant, and Attendant. Any employee who enters a permit-required confined space must first complete confined space entry training. Certification will be issued to students upon successful completion of the course. This certification does not expire. It is, however, strongly recommended that students attend refresher training every three years.

OSHA requires that a confined space rescue team be on standby for all entries into permit-required confined spaces. In 2016, OSHA adjusted its penalties for inflation for the first time in 25 years raising the maximum penalty for a violation to over $126,000. Adjustments have continued that have since increased the Maximum penalty amount to $132,598 (OSHA Penalties (https://www.osha.gov/penalties)).
