STARS Announces New Additions to its All-Star Team

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Dec. 6, 2022 - PRLog -- A Scottsdale nonprofit is pleased to announce two new additions to its executive team to help further its mission, catering to the community of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) is excited to introduce Michael E. Barry as the new Director of Development and Mickey Price as the new Chief Financial Officer as two new members of the STARS family to help fulfill its vision and strategic plan.

Michael was most recently the Director of Capacity Building for the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. Prior to transitioning into the non-profit sector, he spent much of his career in a variety of executive positions with American Express business-to-business division in both New York and Phoenix. When asked what feeling comes to mind when he thinks of STARS, Barry shared, "Joy. Having an office at the Osborn location is truly special; the opportunity, every day, to see the faces and the work of the participants ensures I understand exactly why we do what we do." He looks forward to the journey of meeting individuals and organizations that will become supporters of the STARS mission noting, "Every day is an opportunity to share our work and its impact on the community."

Mickey comes to STARS from Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, where he worked for more than two decades as CFO. Elected to STARS Board of Directors in 2019 to serve as Board Treasurer, he's been in financial and accounting leadership positions for both profit and nonprofit organizations for over 40 years and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. When asked what feeling comes to mind when he thinks of STARS, Price exclaimed, "I'm often filled with a great sense of comradery, compassion, and pride for the work STARS does." He continued, "I feel honored to oversee a portion of the agency."

With both having a calling to purpose-driven service, these new hires will help STARS make way for a brighter future as the organization focuses on the achievement of individual dignity and satisfaction through work for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Celebrating its 50th year anniversary in 2023, STARS prides itself on innovating through collaboration with others in the community to be a resource in building a stronger foundation.
