Jared Gustafson Launches Poverty Relief Effort

Millennial from Redlands addresses poverty in Kenya with a new development project

REDLANDS, Calif. - Feb. 1, 2023 - PRLog -- Jared Gustafson, a resident of Redlands, California, has launched a humanitarian project aimed at alleviating poverty in Kenya. The project provides support to communities in need of basic necessities such as food, clean water, clothing, and education. It does this by partnering with Kenyan locals who are faithful, integral, and hard-working.

The situation in Kenya is dire, with millions of people living in poverty and facing numerous challenges daily. It is estimated that 170,000—million people live in KIBERA, slum alone, the largest slum on the continent and the second largest in the world. These slums lack running water, electricity, and bathrooms. Many residents are forced to relieve themselves in the streets causing unsanitary living conditions that often give rise to disease and sickness.

One of the key components of this project is its emphasis on empowerment, leading to independence for the Kenyan people. "We want to support the work of local Kenyans," Jared says. "We must let go of our vision and agenda and slow down and listen to the desires of the Kenyan people. We don't want to leave people dependent on us."

An important aspect of empowerment, according to Jared, is education. "Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty", he says. He is working to provide access to education for as many children and single mothers as possible. This project supports the educational efforts of orphans by providing resources to teachers at local schools.

Jared Gustafson's project has already made a significant impact on the communities it serves. With the help of volunteers and donations from supporters, the project has been able to provide a water tank to an orphanage. This tank continues to provide clean water to orphans on a daily basis. Additionally, school sweaters were donated to an entire orphanage to keep children warm through the rainy season.

Millennials are often judged for their lack of work ethic, but as Jared demonstrates, they are the most globally-minded generation the world has ever seen. Jared bridges the small town of Redlands, California with poverty relief efforts in Kenya. "There is a lot we can achieve, even from Redlands," Jared says. Jared plans to continue to address poverty all around the world; he is currently building an interdisciplinary team to assist him.

Humanitarian projects like his are making a real difference in the lives of people in need. With its focus on providing access to clean water, shelter, and education, these projects help alleviate poverty and build a brighter future for communities in need.
