The Mountaintop MLK Jr. Last Night of His Life in 1968

ATLANTA - Feb. 4, 2023 - PRLog -- The Mountaintop at Marietta Theatre in The Square, 11 Whitlock St., Marietta Ga., runs Friday Feb 17 through Sunday, Feb 26. Shows are performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Sat. Feb 17, 18 and 24. and 3 p.m. Saturday Feb. 25 and Sunday Feb. 19 and 26. The Mountaintop begins with Martin Luther King Jr. returning to the Lorraine Motel after his sermon, I've been to the Mountain Top. There's a storm brewing at the Lorraine Motel. And the electricity in room 306 may just overpower the lightning outside, as a weary hero receives a smoke and a reality check from a mysterious housekeeper; both are roiled by the repercussions. A growing moment of connection, unpredicted and unpredictable. It's a conversation about racism and justice and holey socks. About the divergent paths of legacy, and how sometimes a great man is also human. A riveting, poetic journey through Martin Luther King Jr.'s missing minutes on April 3, 1968. A play by Katori Hall, Mountaintop is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. .
