Before resting on the Sabbath, Phillip and San Jose State University Professor Emeritus Dr. Ethel Pitts Walker celebrated her 80th birthday, quite the Black History Month milestone.

During First Friday Films Feb. 3rd, Rancho Cucamonga City Councilwoman Kristine Scott presented the 45 year old African American Drama Company with a Certificate of Recognition at the 10th ever Phillip E. Walker Acting Retrospective Series during the night that San Giorgio Winery permanently closed its doors. Another major historical date.

Last Tuesday Phil sealed the deal on Rancho Cucamonga's Victoria Garden's Cove agreement to sponsor and host the upcoming 9th annual Indigenous Film Retreats and 2023 Rancho Cucamonga 48 Hour Film Project short film production shoot.

And finally, to launch Black History Month 2023, on Feb. 1st Mr. Walker's speech at the Regular City Council Meeting resulted in the above mentioned Certificate issuing plus the City's plan to announce at its next bi-weekly Regular City Council Meeting, a formal Resolution displaying the City of Rancho Cucamonga's support for Black History Month 2023.
