WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Feb. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- (Lake Worth Beach, FL – February 10, 2023) Dave Lawrence, President & CEO of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, welcomed around 140 guests to last Monday's CULTURE & COCKTAILS, the third of four conversations in the 18^th season of the popular series. The informative and fun event was held in the beautiful rooftop ballroom of The Ben in downtown West Palm Beach and featured a real juicy topic.

20^th Century Secrets & Scandals in Palm Beach County

A Revealing Conversation with

+ Jeremy W. Johnson, CAE, President & CEO of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and the award-winning Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum, which received the Cultural Council's 2020 Muse Award for Cultural Impact.

+ Charlene Farrington, Executive Director of the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, whose mission is to expand, preserve and present the culturally diverse history of the Black communities of Palm Beach County. The daughter of Spady co-founder Vera Farrington, she oversees programming that uses local black history as a teaching tool to promote understanding, equity, and unity.

Moderator: Rick Rose, author of Palm Beach: The Essential Guide to America's Legendary Resort Town and popular Worth Avenue tour guide.

To the delight of the audience, the four local history experts swapped eyebrow-raising and laughter-filled stories about the illustrious Mizner Brothers; a secret tunnel in Delray Beach; the imaginative bank robber who was caught and convicted but then disappeared, perhaps absconding with a valuable coin collection owned by a former Palm Beach Mayor; Capone Island, and so much more.
