BAY AREA, Calif. - Feb. 15, 2023 - PRLog -- San Francisco Bay Area-based textile upcycling artist, Mira Musank, will join Climate Creative as the 2023 Artist in Residence.

At Climate Creative, Mira will be working to create meaningful experiences that bring attention to the critical, intersectional issues that contribute to climate change.

Mira's art focuses on creating conversations around textile waste and our relationship with the environment. Her materials of choice are pre-owned clothes, factory cut-offs, fabric samples and remnants. These so-called "textile wastes" are actually treasures that she transforms into custom garments and functional beauty. She also works to redistribute rescued materials for creative reuse. Mira and her works have been profiled in publications such as California Elegance (Rizzoli New York) and Simply Sewing Magazine (United Kingdom). She was also a key presentation artist and production manager in the premiere Climate Creative VR Climate Gallery (https://climate.gallery) last winter.

Her works of reimagining, repairing, and refashioning garments can be seen at www.fafafoom.com and @miramusank on Instagram as well as at www.climatecreative.us.

Look out for Mira's upcoming activity:

This February Mira will be participating in the Kenyan-based project, Kanda La Ziwa, organized by climate activist and National Geographic fellow Dave Ojay. The event is being produced by NAAM Festival and Living Sea to bring awareness of the pollution in and around Lake Victoria. Mira will be joining the festival remotely via a recorded presentation, along with plastic upcycling artist and National Geographic fellow, Katharine Owens. Kanda La Ziwa will primarily feature local artists and will have art workshops, exhibitions, and community-building activities in a 7-day period from February 17th to 23rd.

We are beyond excited to have Mira join us as our 2023 Artist in Residence and look forward to supporting her amazing work!
