Cornelius' Authentic Irish and English Pub's New Owners Will Preserve Traditions

CORNELIUS, N.C. - Feb. 20, 2023 - PRLog -- Tina and Christopher Phillips have passed on the reins of Cornelius' favorite Irish and English Pub, Harp & Crown on Catawba Avenue, to another well-known local restaurant family – Tony and Keli Marks.

"We want to thank Chris and Tina for trusting us with the traditions they have established at Harp & Crown," notes Tony. "They have created a warm and welcoming neighborhood pub atmosphere made possible by their fabulous team, and we intend to continue that culture."

"All of your favorite menu items – and portion sizes – will remain, including the Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Banoffee Pie," notes Keli. While Lake Norman initially fell in love with Keli for her almond croissants and macrons at Bakery 28, this French-trained pastry chef has far more in her repertoire. A 1996 CIA graduate, she worked in New York City and at the Bellagio before founding Vanille Patisserie in Chicago and then becoming Executive Pastry Chef at Ballantyne. She is passionate about honoring the culinary traditions that are so well-loved at Harp and Crown while creating some inventive new offerings that stay true to those deep roots.

What are the new offerings on tap? For one, Michael Waltrip's beer collection. He recently was spotted behind the bar and will make an appearance as a celebrity bartender in the weeks to come. Also making a comeback is the outdoor fireplace, the perfect spot to unwind with friends as the weather begins to warm. Acoustic entertainment will return to the patio on a new stage. The soulful notes of Shelley Ruffin, who sings everything from Dolly Parton to Lady Gaga will be heard, as will two wonderfully entertaining one-man shows.

While the Marks family has deep roots in the national business community, Lake Norman remains their home and the place where they choose to unwind with friends, which is why preserving the local flavor of feel of Harp & Crown was paramount. "We truly appreciate Chris and Tina for trusting us with their baby because they know that we are committed to taking their same level of care with their clients, staff and establishment," Keli says.
