Follow on Google News | Everyday Arts Awarded California Arts Council Impact Project GrantBy: Everyday Arts The Everyday Arts Neighborhood Project aims to bring culturally responsive arts opportunities to students with special needs in Los Angeles. "COVID-19 has hit the special education population particularly hard, for myriad reasons, including: physical needs that cannot be met through remote learning; medical conditions that impact mask-wearing and the ability to social distance; the high costs of support services; and many more," said Everyday Arts Executive Director Noemy Hernandez. "Through a series of hands-on workshops in three high-needs areas, we will facilitate artmarking opportunities for special education students, as well as provide educators and families with the tools needed to implement visual and performing arts instruction that supports social-emotional growth for years to come. We are thrilled that the National Endowment for the Arts is supporting this urgent and vital project, and look forward to a continued partnership." Everyday Arts was featured as part of a larger announcement from the California Arts Council, with grant awards for its Cycle B programming totaling more than $41 million across more than 900 grants supporting nonprofit organizations and units of government throughout the state. All told, the projected sum of grants to be awarded for 2022's regular program funding cycle is more than $72 million—the biggest annual investment in the California Arts Council's 46-year history, largely supported by the $40 million one-time boost in support for the agency's creative youth and arts education development programs. http://www.everydayarts.org End
