First HBCU ACRRE Recipient Is Announced

NEW ORLEANS - March 1, 2023 - PRLog -- The partners of the "40 ACRRE at HBCU Initiative" are thrilled to announce its first recipient. ACRRE stands for Accelerating Climate Resiliency and Renewable Energy at HBCUs. The initiative aims to expedite climate resiliency and renewable energy implementations on 40 Historically Black Colleges and Universities campuses.

Our selection process was thorough and involved two key criteria. Firstly, applicants were required to fill out a comprehensive survey. Secondly, applicants had to demonstrate genuine interest and outline their potential impact within their university community. This included taking measures to neutralize their carbon footprint, recognizing their role in the energy transition, and providing services for electric vehicles and other energy applications.

The partners are encouraged by the level of interest and engagement that we have received from other universities and eagerly anticipate announcing the next set of colleges within the next eight days. But today, we are excited to share that Xavier University of Louisiana is first on our list.

Our next steps will include Investment Grade Energy Audits, on-campus walkthroughs, and a comprehensive report detailing the greenhouse gas reductions that can be achieved through this initiative. We are confident that this effort will stem from the excellent work of Historically Black Colleges and Universities collaborating with BIPoC founders in the climate tech space.
