By: Alan Kaye Shreveport LSU Health Shreveport's new Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is Dr. Alan Kaye. Effective June 8, Kaye will be responsible for both the academic and administrative departments in the hospital. He will work to increase the quality of education in both Monroe and Shreveport by increasing educational infrastructure, implementing interdisciplinary curricula and creating a stronger leadership position for the Chief Academic Officer. Kaye graduated from the University of Arizona School of Medicine in the same class as his psychology and biology degrees. After 15 years at the New Orleans University Medical Center, Kaye currently sits as Chair and Chief of Anesthesiology Services for LSUHS. He earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Tulane University's School of Medicine after completing additional courses. Before her stint at Massachusetts General Hospital as an anesthesiology resident, Kaye completed an internal medicine residency at the New Orleans Alton Ochsner Medical Establishment and Clinic. After that, she worked as a clinical researcher at Tulane Medical Center, where she served as the head anesthesia resident. Kaye's work at Texas Heart Institute was part of her anesthesia residency. Since his studies continue, Dr. Kaye participated in a pain fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Additionally, he completed a homeopathic pharmacology fellowship at the Medical College of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Kaye is certified by the board in anesthesiology, interventional pain and pain medicine. Kaye served as a captain and major in the US Army Medical Reserves for seven and five years, respectively. His military service earned him the Louisiana Military Honor Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his Reserve duty during the Gulf War. His books include: In 2019, a second edition of The Neurophysiology Monitoring was published. The book is written by AD Kaye and S Davis and published by Springer Publishing. Black box warnings were added to this book from Springer Publishing titled Essentials of Pharmacology in Anesthesia. The book is about the effects of painkillers on anesthetics. The Cambridge Press Publishing And Essentials of Pediatric Anesthesia book is from 2014 and edited by AD Kaye, C Fox and J. Diaz. The book covers pediatrics anesthesia in depth. He holds multiple state medical licenses issued by different countries. He earned his California state medical license in 2013 and will hold it until 2023, as well as Florida's from 2004 to 2025, Texas' from 2000 to 2025, Arizona's from 1999 to 2024 and Louisiana's 1991 to 2023. https://alankayeshreveport.com/ End
