Saint Mary Magdalene Drama Brings Message of Eucharist

The Gospel of Christ Conveyed Through Live Theatrical Performance

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - March 15, 2023 - PRLog -- "Mary Magdalene - At the Feet of Jesus," is a live theatrical one-woman drama that shines a holy light on this great saint and shares the message of Christ.

With this performance, audiences experience Mary Magdalene's journey of faith from her difficult beginnings in Magdala, her friendship with the Blessed Mother, and her devotion to Jesus all the way to the foot of the cross. She is also known as the "Apostle to the Apostles" for being the first to herald the Resurrection.

The drama brings familiar Bible scenes to life including the Sermon on the Mount and the Mary Martha dinner. The True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is a prominent theme in the story, as Mary witnesses the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and is present at Jesus' Bread of Life Discourse (John 6.)  As she sees the crowds turn away from Jesus she remains a devoted disciple and sings "I Will Not Walk Away," one of the nine original songs in the drama.

Catholic performing artist Nancy Scimone, who portrays Mary Magdalene, wrote the script and music after her parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  She explains, "My intent in creating the drama was to highlight the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and to honor this great saint.  Popular culture and media tend to misrepresent her, and completely miss her holiness and discipleship.  This story expresses her with reverence and relates to our Catholic faith."

Scimone terms the drama as edutainment because it conveys the message of Christ through the theatrical arts.  She shares, "I take to heart Saint Pope John Paul II's declaration 'to convey the message entrusted her by Christ, the Church needs art,' from his Letter to Artists, The Way of Beauty."

Scimone has presented her first drama "Saint Faustina - Messenger of Mercy" at over 100 churches and cathedrals across North America.  She has performed in Italy in sacred music concerts, and in New York City in a concert sponsored by the Sisters of Life.  Her recorded Catholic music is heard worldwide.

The inspiring story of this great saint offers important messages for our times. The performance runs 65 minutes and is suggested for ages ten through adult.   MaryMagdaleneDrama.com
