Colorado Palliative & Hospice Care Colorado Springs Announces Clinical Director

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - March 21, 2023 - PRLog -- Terri Ramirez, RN, has been promoted to Clinical Director. Ramirez joined the Colorado Palliative & Hospice Care Colorado Springs (CPHCCS) team in August 2020 after caring for soldiers and their dependents in The Department of the Army. As the CPHCCS Clinical Director, Ramirez will lead a dedicated clinical team and provide training and mentorship to new employees.

"Terri is a skilled and talented nurse and, I am excited to have her lead the Colorado Springs clinical team. We look forward to working with her as she applies her commitment, and expertise to our patients, families, caregivers, and staff," said Jennifer Forrester, Executive Director.

Ramirez began her nursing career in 2002 as a Licensed Practical Nurse followed by an associate degree in nursing at Otero Junior College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Currently, Ramirez is working to complete a master's degree in nursing at Capella University. Ramirez's diverse nursing experience includes eight years in hospice and six years in home health. She has worked in the emergency room, oncology, and dermatology. Ramirez found hospice when a friend asked her to work in the inpatient unit. "It was the most rewarding and fulfilling time in my career," said Ramirez.

Ramirez will work in collaboration with the management staff to ensure accountability for the quality and continuity of nursing care. She will actively participate in improvement initiatives and support the nursing process – planning, organizing, educating, and directing clinical care activities, ensuring a perfect visit for every patient and caregiver.

"The end-of-life stage is difficult to cope with and I am privileged to be present during someone's last days. It is important to remember we are not taking care of an illness living with a person but caring for a person living and dying with an illness. Our goal is for us to keep our patients as functional and comfortable as possible. I read a quote by a hospice nurse that stuck with me, 'We cannot change the outcome, but we can affect the journey.' This could not be truer, and we would like the journey to be as comfortable and peaceful as possible. I am thankful and excited to lead such an amazing team of nurses and hospice aides to achieve the common goal of helping to manage how our patients experience the dying process," said Ramirez.
