League of Women Voters to Host Conversation on VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION, March 29 in WPB

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - March 19, 2023 - PRLog -- (West Palm Beach, FL – March 17, 2023) The League of Women Voters of Florida and the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC) will be co-hosting a FREE Community Conversation highlighting VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION. Speakers will address a range of topics related to helping returning citizens (persons with felony convictions) restore their voting rights in Florida.

The in-person public event will be on Wednesday, March 29, 6:30 pm, at Gaines Park, 1501 N. Australian Avenue in West Palm Beach (33401).

The Community Conversation will feature a panel discussion of stakeholders who are able to address the most important issues affecting people impacted by the criminal justice system, including returning citizens. Currently, the state of Florida has no statewide database or one-stop system in place to give returning citizens assurances about their voting eligibility and/or flag those who attempt to register to vote by genuine mistake before penalties are handed down.

Volunteer attorneys and experts will also attend this FREE Community Conversation to aid in informing returning citizens about their rights; determining what fines, costs, restitution, and fees might be outstanding; and getting registered to vote.

This Community Conversation of VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION will be accessible online via livestream on: Facebook.com/LWVFlorida (http://www.Facebook.com/LWVFlorida).
