LOS ANGELES - April 21, 2023 - PRLog -- On Thursday, April 20, 2023, actor Ray Buffer, 53, pled guilty to a single count of misdemeanor petty theft in San Diego Municipal Court. The charge stemmed from allegations that Mr. Buffer stole several comic books from Southern California Comics late last year.

In response to the charges, Buffer has expressed his deep remorse and has committed to rehabilitation to ensure that he never reoffends. He acknowledges the harm that his actions caused and is taking full responsibility for his behavior.

"I've been unable until now, to speak publicly about the incident, while there were pending legal issues.  I made a mistake and I'm deeply sorry for the harm that I caused," said Mr. Buffer. "I want to make things right and do everything I can to ensure that I never make the same mistake again."

Buffer now wants to share his story to inspire others who may be struggling with their own mental illness. "I know how hard it can be to admit that you need help and to ask for it," he says. "But I also know that it's possible to get better and to live a happy, fulfilling life."

Buffer added "a church I have worked for has a mantra 'It's okay to not be okay,' and this situation has forced me to realize that I was not okay."

Buffer's journey has been a challenging one, but he is grateful for the support he has received from his family and friends along the way. "I couldn't have done it without them," he says. "They never gave up on me, even when I was at my lowest.  I am grateful for my friends. my attorney, and those employers who have stuck with me and rooted for me."  Buffer reflected "I have lost a lot in the process - my agent, my manager, some friendships and some job opportunities and I acknowledge that my own decisions and actions created those losses."

Buffer hopes that by talking about his story, he can help reduce the stigma around mental illness and encourage others to seek help if they need it. "There's no shame in admitting that you're struggling," he says. "It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, or to force yourself to go find it, but it's worth it."

As part of his rehabilitation, Buffer has committed to completing volunteer service and paying full restitution to the victim of the theft. He is also attending continued therapy sessions and classes to address the mental health issues that contributed to his behavior.

"I've learned the importance of good mental health and how it impacts every aspect of our lives," said Mr. Buffer. "I'm committed to working on myself and making sure that I never repeat my mistake."

Buffer's commitment to rehabilitation and community service are important steps towards healing for himself and the community. By taking responsibility for his actions and seeking help, he is showing that he is serious about making positive changes in his life.

"It probably sounds weird, but I am grateful that this happened so that I could face my issues, and no longer be in denial."  Buffer looks forward to moving on from the incident stating, "I must remind myself daily that these circumstances do not define me.  I still have a lot of good things to do, and I am ready to do them."
