By: TVS Television Network Championship Bowling began in 1954 from the Feaitz Niessen Recreation Center in Chicago. Local car dealer Peter DeMet saw the need for a regular weekly nationally syndicated bowling series. He enlisted the Faetz Niessen bowling center to host the series. Legendary TV pioneer Walter Schwinner signed local announcer "Whispering Joe" Wilson to host the show and recruited the best bowlers of the era to appear. Bowlers included legends such as Caarmen Salvino (then a 20 year old wunderkind), Don Carter, Buzz Fazio, 1940's legend Joe Wilman, Steve Nagy, Bill Lillard, Junie McMahon, Buddy Bomar, and Robby Robinson in the series. Highlight of the series is the first 300 game televised nationally, by Steve Nagy. TVS Bowling Illustrated Distant Reply is a series of great vintage bowling from the first three decades of television. In addition to Championship Bowling, TVS Tavern TV Network is showcasing Top Star Bowling, TVS LPBT Bowling, and PBA Regional Bowling.
