The Metamorphosis of a Butterfly

ATLANTA - April 24, 2023 - PRLog -- DeKalb County Juvenile Probation Officer, Awona Love, is connecting with sexual abuse survivors through her novel, Butterflies & Lemonade. Love's biographical fiction novel was released in 2021 under the pen name Summer Heat. Officer Love, who also founded the nonprofit, SaSumthing, wrote this novel to use her story of childhood sexual abuse to increase community awareness about the subtleties of sexual abuse and grooming.

Officer Love, who has been a Juvenile Probation Officer for the past several years, has been a strong advocate for survivors of sexual abuse. In an effort to help survivors and to raise awareness of the issue, Officer Love has been sharing her story with the public. She has spoken at various events and has been featured in several media outlets. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can help other survivors find the courage to speak out and get the help they need.

"Sa Sumthing, It's Not Okay!" Officer Love's story, Butterflies & Lemonade, is the coming of age story of a young woman, Summer Heat, from Ben Hill, GA who lost her teenage years to homelessness and motherhood. Throughout Summer's journey of sexual abuse and domestic abuse, she learns that life is only about surviving. She began to believe that if she fought back… she wasn't a victim. As a result, it took her years to recognize abuse and her abusers. This story is Officer Love's personal vow to stop the abuse that she endured for decades from reaching another generation.

Butterflies & Lemonade, along with Officer Love's poetry book, A Butterfly Afraid to Fly (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-butterfly-afraid-to-fl...), are available in print, eBook, and Kindle. Proceeds from all book sales are donated to the AnowA Foundation, Inc. to aid in providing counseling, life coaching, and rehabilitation services to sexual abuse survivors.
