Follow on Google News | From the Earth to the Sky - Williamson High School Student Receives ScholarshipCalvin grew up living literally next door to an airport, and has wanted to be a pilot for as long as he can remember. He plans on attending Fingerlakes Community College in the fall as he works on a degree in biology conservation, with the ultimate dream of becoming a Biology Pilot for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He wants to give back to the community and the world through conservation efforts. Calvin enjoys all things outdoors, including camping, hiking, and being involved in Boy Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol, which is an auxiliary of the US Air Force. He is grateful for this scholarship because it will kickstart his ability to pay for more hours in the cockpit as he works towards earning his private pilot license. About The Lyons Aviation Foundation: The Lyons Aviation Foundation is a private foundation that awards yearly scholarships to financially support deserving young persons who are pursuing their Private Pilot Certificate. The Lyons family has been involved in and maintained a history of aviation-related careers for over 65 years. "Our aviation story started with our father, Rolf C. Lyons, when he entered military service at the age of 17, enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1955. This foundation is born out of our desire to give back. It was created through the loving and caring nature instilled in our family by our parents, and inspired to help give opportunity to those that might not otherwise have the means to pursue aviation as a career path. This foundation is about our family story and its ties to aviation, military service, and one another," says son, Mark Lyons. More information can be found at www.lyonsaviation.org.
