AMSTERDAM - May 2, 2023 - PRLog -- Bordering on the start of a new patent era in Europe, C5 Communications is pleased to confirm the return of our Annual Forum on Pharma & Biotech Patent Litigation.  Featuring up-to-the-minute information on utilizing the new patent system and optimizing your IP, this year's event will deliver strategic insights on navigating the latest litigation battlegrounds facing today's pharma and biotech products.

Approaching this year's event, C5 is pleased to appoint Dominic Adair (Partner, Bristows LLP), Bert Oosting (Partner, Hogan Lovells), and Dr. Penny Gilbert (Partner, Powell Gilbert LLP) as the honorary conference co-chairs who will share guidance on how the latest court rulings and regulatory developments will impact your cases, as well as your clients' bottom lines.  Key program highlights will include an interview with UPC Judges Rian Kalden and Margot Kokke on critical considerations for practitioners entering into the new court system, as well as spotlights on the latest SPC developments and the impact of EU regulatory transformation on pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

After speaking with our esteemed co-chairs, Mr. Oosting emphasized his interest in the upcoming session focused on the future of plausibility and the implications of the EPO's decision in in BOA Referral G 2/21.  He believes that this ruling will have a "very important influence on future litigation in Europe" given the hot debates surrounding the subject.  Dr. Gilbert confirmed her interest in the same session and also expressed how timely this year's conference is given the fact it is taking place a mere week before long awaited changes will go live in the patent courts.  She stands by this conference as being a must-attend event for those looking to hear "last minute preparations in terms of litigation strategies" not only within the UPC, but within key non-participating jurisdictions.  Mr. Adair closed up the conversation by stating that this year's conference has lined up "a really excellent agenda over two days, covering many much needed topic areas such as AI in litigation, claiming antibody patents, and more."

Running from the 23rd – 24th of May, this meeting of pharmaceutical patent leaders will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station.
