About the Author: Prior to being a mom, Alyssa Ionita worked with people with various disabilities as a Recreation Therapist. She also worked at Yale New Haven Hospital in the children's psychiatric unit. "I love helping people whether they have a disability or struggle with mental health." She was a professor at Southern Connecticut State University as well, where she taught students about inclusion.
