BOONTON, N.J. - May 2, 2023 - PRLog -- In this CEC Symposium, during the 2023 American Association of Heart Failure Nurses #aahfnam2023, expert faculty will discuss how Iron deficiency (ID) is common in patients  with heart failure (HF), with and without anemia. Numerous studies have shown that ID is  associated with adverse clinical outcomes in HF patients, also with and without anemia. Unfortunately, however, ID remains an under-recognized and under-diagnosed comorbidity  in HF patients, despite robust (Class 2a) treatment recommendations in ESC and  AHA/ACC/HFSA HF clinical practice guidelines for intravenous (IV) iron replacement  therapy. Increasing evidence in iron-deficient patients with stable, chronic HF is providing  insights for HF clinicians into the long-term efficacy and safety of IV iron therapy. In this  program, HF experts will describe the need to regularly screen HF patients for ID, and to  diagnose and effectively treat iron-deficient HF patients with IV iron supplementation to improve clinical outcomes.
